UP-RESILIENCE website launched at the 2nd President’s Toast

The UP-RESILIENCE online portal was officially introduced by Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, Vice President for Public Affairs, at the 2nd President’s Toast held on July 5 at the Bulwagan ng Dangal, UP Main Library.

RESILIENCE, which stands for REsources for Science-Informed Literacy and ENgagement towards Building Community ResiliencE, is a web-based knowledge hub intended to serve as a platform to facilitate the dissemination and utilization of UP’s collective knowledge and expertise in climate change adaptation and mitigation and disaster risk management. Resources in this website may be used for awareness-raising, policymaking, teaching, capacity-building, and research.

The project is a product of the joint strategic planning workshop conducted by UP and the Climate Change Commission (CCC) in pursuit of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the two institutions in June 2013.

Through this portal, we hope to create an important collaboration among institutions of learning and NGOs to work together to encourage, help and support each other in the goals of mitigating emissions and disaster risks,” said Sec. Emmanuel G. de Guzman, Vice Chair and Executive Director of the CCC, in his congratulatory message welcoming the initiative.

Since its softlaunching on April 22, the website has generated 8,229 page views, 2,191 sessions and has now a total of 1,600 users worldwide.
