Dr. Lagmay’s discussion on the role of universities in anticipatory planning.

In this episode, efforts from the University of the Philippines geared towards spearheading a systematized approach to climate change action were highlighted, including local development planning capacity building activities for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). During his discussion, Dr. Lagmay emphasized that Planning is key to combating the issue of climate change. He further highlighted that as part of larger communities, SUCs play a significant role in promoting sustainable growth and economic development in all cities and municipalities of the entire country. Through capacity building activities conducted by UP RI , SUCs are enabled to act as conduits for sharing skills and knowledge during the local development planning process.

Dr. Lagmay’s discussion was received positively by the participants, a significant portion of whom were members of the academe. Questions during Resilience Live Episode 2 mostly revolved around means by which collaboration among universities and local stakeholders can be enhanced.
