UPRI Participates in DSWD’s Research Forum 2020
The UPRI, represented by Dennis dela Torre of the Research and Creative Work Office, participated in the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Research Forum 2020, held at the Axiaa Hotel, Quezon City, March 4-5, 2020.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the National Resilience Council (NRC), and the DSWD presented its Research and Development (R&D) Agenda 2020-2022 to various sectors representing the academe and several agencies.
UPRI gave inputs on the need for research on the nexus between social protection and disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and mitigation (DRR-CCAM) frameworks, the harmonisation and standardisation of social protection mainstreaming in local plans in convergence with DRR-CCAM, and the use and application of the the latest research and technologies as an enabler for resilience through social protection.
According to Asec. Joyce Niwane, DSWD plans to create a technical working group to update and enhance its R&D Agenda, and intends to invite representatives from the academe, including UPRI.
Dela Torre also gave a reaction to a baseline study on adaptive capacity covering LGUs of the 6th district of Isabela, presented by Prof. Felipe Romero of the Isabela State University.
