Academic Alliance on Anticipatory Action (4As)
The Academic Alliance on Anticipatory Action (4As) presents itself as a global consortium of universities from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and the United States.
Led by Tufts University in Massachusetts, the consortium promotes collaborative evaluation of anticipatory actions related to the humanitarian sector. It aims to determine the effectiveness and practicality of anticipatory actions as an innovation to the traditional modes of humanitarian responses on various risk and disaster events. To realize this, the consortium performs impact evaluation and data analysis on conducted anticipatory intervention.
The people behind the consortium are transdisciplinary. This is in consonance with the view of combining different human knowledge and analyzing different disasters through a common global approach.
The University of the Philippines through the UP Resilience Institute represents the Philippines in the consortium.
