As with previous rapid assessments conducted, the goal of this activity is to identify the vulnerabilities of the different facilities in order to assist the College in developing and improving pre-existing plans that address possible crises and emergencies. Furthermore, in line with UPRI IB’s mandate to enhance disaster resilience across UP campuses, these activities aim to develop a culture of preparedness within the community.

For the UPD CSWCD, the rapid assessment focused on the building’s classrooms, offices, library, and facilities. Assistant Professor Paul Muego, who joined the group during the assessment of the building’s auditorium, shared insights on the existing practices and challenges faced by the College when tackling the topic of disaster preparedness.

The group concluded this activity at the CSWCD Dean’s office to discuss the next steps moving forward. IB Chief Ongkiko conversed with Dean Lenore Polotan-Dela Cruz regarding the utilization of the rapid assessment’s data for the Emergency Preparedness Plan Workshop-Training. Scheduled in September 2024, the UPD CSWCD prepares for this training with excitement as they aim to develop an incident management team and continuously enhance their capabilities in disaster preparedness.
