UP Resilience Institute – Research and Creative Work Division announces the qualifying pitches for “A.H.A… Handaan Na: A Performative Social Experiment on Food and Nutrition Concerns for Climate Change,” a performance showcase and learning event scheduled for June 24-25, 2025, at the Parola Gallery, UP College of Fine Arts.
Dubbed the chosen “A.H.A. Artista”, the participating teams will showcase their idea pitches related to food, nutrition, and climate change. The chosen pitches are undergoing a series of workshops for ideation and collaborative development for their final presentation during “A.H.A… Handaan Na”.
The participating teams are the following:
- Team Bulungan, led by Edge Uyanguren
- A fisherfolk-led market and discussion that highlights the need to protect marine ecosystems and resist destructive coastal conversion and reclamation projects.
- Team RICEng Stars of the Centennial Dorm, led by Lari Sabangan
- Comedy skit-jingle about the different ways to prepare rice, promoting its nutritional value, especially in times of disaster
- Team Binhi, led by Ian Jay Formacion and Boyet de Mesa
- Body and performance art about how the body relies on the land that provides food, strength, nutrition, and life in the face of climate change
- Team Kuman!, led by Charles Julian Gollayan and Andrew Estacio
- Live interactive performances combining the physical and digital to advocate for community empowerment and promote Pancit Cabagan as a survival food
- Mangan! TEAManininda, led by Narciso Hernandez and Ranenza Villamor of the Samahang Manininda Sa UP Campus, Inc. and UP Repertory Company
- Tula-dula (poem-play) tackles issues such as anti-commercialization, food security, and nutrition in the context of livelihood
