The SCAPA 2016 presents Project NOAH with an opportunity to gain further recognition as a way of recognizing deserving countries and organizations that were assessed to have the best smart city projects in Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APej) in its annual Smart City Development Index.
With the development of Project NOAH through the initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, better early warning systems were installed all over the Philippines. These tools, aggregated and displayed on the Project NOAH website, provide communities with near real-time weather information and tools that will help warn communities about any risk of impending floods. NOAH also developed hazard maps for landslides and storm surges in addition to the flood maps mentioned above.
IDC Government Insights used a rigorous six-phase benchmarking exercise, entitled the Smart City Development Index to determine the top Smart City initiative winners across Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ).
“The smart city index was created to help city leaders understand the strategic impact and maturity of their smart city initiatives,” stated Gerard Wang, Head of IDC Government Insights Asia Pacific.
