In cooperation with the UP Resilience Institute, the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) – Philippines completed mapping and validation of Quezon City, Metro Manila in OpenStreetMap (OSM) as part of the COVID-19 response (#endCOV). Quezon City is one of the most densely populated and hardest hit municipalities in the Philippines by COVID-19. Through the collaborative efforts of 644 contributors worldwide, 317,325 building footprints were added in 62 days on OSM. The UP Resilience Institute used the crowdsourced data to support the local government unit of Quezon City in their COVID-19 response. The result of this initiative was also showcased at the State of the Map’s poster exhibit last July 4, 2020.
