OSM Philippines’ Drone Training with UP Visayas Tacloban YouthMappers

UP Visayas – Tacloban YouthMappers, the first PH local chapter outside Metro Manila, is the first recipient of the drone training under the OSM PH x Open Mapping Hub Asia-Pacific project

On August 11-12, 2022, OpenStreetMap-Philippines (OSM PH) volunteers, including UPRI YouthMappers co-founder Feye Andal, organized a drone and field mapping training in UP Visayas – Tacloban College, Leyte. In order to boost data quality and advance mapping skills, the OSM PH Booster Grant Facilitating Team (OSM PH BGFT) has proposed to develop and implement the training outside of Metro Manila to capacitate local OSM communities to acquire, learn, and share their skills in using devices (drones and GPS units). The OSM PH BGFT partnered with UP Visayas Tacloban Youth Mappers for the training and invited Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) and Visayas State University (VSU) to attend the training.
