WHO WE ARE

The RCW is an interdisciplinary team composed of members with various academic and professional backgrounds, encompassing public administration, urban planning, political science, statistics, web development, GIS, communications, and information studies.

DJ Darwin R. Bandoy, DVM, PhD
Director

DJ Darwin R. Bandoy, DVM, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at UP Los Baños and Director of Research and Creative Work at the UP Resilience Institute. He holds a PhD in Integrative Pathobiology from the University of California, Davis, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UP Los Baños.

Expertise & Interests: Climate and Disaster Governance, Climate and Disaster Vulnerability Reduction, Climate Change Mitigation, Climate and Disaster Financing, Policy Development

Dennis de la Torre supervises the Research and Creative Work team of UPRI. He earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education (major in biology, minor in chemistry) from the UP College of Education, and Bachelor of Laws from the FEU Institute of Law, and is currently finishing his Masters in Public Administration at the UP NCPAG.

WHAT WE DO

We undertake policy research, action research, and interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research or creative work aimed at producing and applying new knowledge, knowledge solutions, or know-how on reducing and managing natural disaster risks in the Philippines and the Pacific Rim region with utmost consideration of local, cultural, and social factors.
