Two UPRI Researchers Among Five Filipinos Accepted to 2025 Global Green Finance Hub Climate Policy Fellowship
Two researchers from the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute – Research and Creative Work Division (UPRI-RCW) have been accepted into the 2025 Global Green Finance Hub (GGFH) Climate Policy Analysis and Mentorship Program, joining five Filipino fellows selected from more than 6,100 applicants worldwide. Mr. Dennis G. dela Torre, Chief Science Research Specialist, and Mr. Keanu John A. Pelitro, Junior Project Assistant, were among the 500 fellows representing 88 countries chosen for the two-month virtual fellowship.
The program seeks to build the capacity of emerging leaders in climate policy analysis, sustainable finance, and nature accounting under the theme “Leading the Future of Sustainable Finance and Nature Accounting through Climate Policy Analysis: Global Training, Local Transformation.” Running from October 1 to December 10, 2025, it offers advanced mentorship and collaborative policy analysis opportunities designed to bridge global sustainability frameworks with local implementation. The fellowship culminates in the preparation of a country-specific climate policy report by all participating fellows, promoting actionable insights and innovative climate solutions.
Upon suggestion by his fellows, Mr. de la Torre presented on global and national climate and disaster finance flows, as contrasted from green finance, during the 3rd session of the Green Finance Fellowship last October 18. This presentation was entitled “Understanding Climate and Disaster Financing.”
The selection of Mr. dela Torre and Mr. Pelitro highlights UPRI-RCW’s continued contribution to global climate research and policy innovation, in line with the Institute’s mission to strengthen resilience through evidence-based science, policy, and partnerships. This also reflects the Philippines’ active engagement in shaping international climate policy discussions, particularly in advancing sustainable finance and climate governance across developing contexts.
The Global Green Finance Hub fellowship is regarded as one of the leading international training programs for sustainability and policy professionals, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and global collaboration.
UPRI-RCW extends its congratulations to all five Filipino fellows, and especially to its own researchers, for this remarkable achievement.
