UPRI Attended the Green Awards- Awarding Ceremony

The UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) participated in the Green Award Awarding Ceremony held on November 13, 2025, at the QC MICE Center. This annual event recognizes outstanding efforts in building safer, greener, and more resilient communities through inclusive and sustainable initiatives. Before the awarding ceremony itself, two representatives from UPRI Institution Building Division, Mr Jose Abraham Ongkiko and Ms Jerzyne Anne Corpuz, served as part of the core panel of judges. They worked alongside evaluators from non-government organisations (NGOs), civil society organisations (CSOs), people’s organisations (POs), and nano-enterprises, as well as representatives from barangays, schools, businesses, hospitals, and youth groups. Their collective task was to assess and acknowledge exemplary practices that contribute to environmental sustainability and community resilience.

The program began with the singing of the national anthem, followed by a solemn prayer. The  Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte delivered her opening remarks, emphasizing the city’s continued commitment to championing green innovation and community-driven resilience initiatives. She highlighted the importance of recognizing grassroots champions and institutional partners who contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more climate-resilient Quezon City. Her message underscored the vital role of collaboration across sectors in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of winners across various categories. Each awardee was celebrated for their dedication to advancing sustainable development, promoting environmental stewardship, and strengthening community preparedness. The event underscored the importance of multi-sectoral participation and showcased how collaborative action can lead to meaningful, long-term resilience.
