UPRI Conducts a Preliminary Engagement Meeting with the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance for Capacity Building

 

On May 30, 2024 the UPRI, represented by IB Chief Science Research Specialist Jose Abraham Ongkiko, Junior Project Assistant Jerzyn Anne Corpuz and Franklin Joshua Gali conducted a preliminary engagement meeting with the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG). The NCPAG was represented by Dean Kristoffer Berse, PhD and NCPAG staff. With the aim to develop the College’s DRRM plans, the main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the possible points of collaboration between UPRI and NCPAG.

UPRI Institution Building Chief Science Research Specialist Jose Ongkiko gave an overview of the capacity-building activities that have already been conducted with other UP Diliman Units. In specific, the attention was directed towards the possibility of a rapid assessment and a two-day Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) training-workshop. NCPAG Dean Kristoffer Berse expressed his interest and also requested to expand this training by adding more activities and interactive elements. The aim of these changes were to develop the disaster preparedness capabilities of the college members. The UPRI representatives accepted these additions and committed to implementing these in the NCPAG training.

The meeting ended on determining the finalized dates for the rapid assessment and the two-day training. August 28-29, 2024 was set as the scheduled date for the Disaster Preparedness training workshop while the rapid assessment is scheduled to be conducted sometime in July 2024. Further communications and finalizations were assigned to NCPAG Administrative Officer Joselito Aurelio.
