Abstract:

This research investigates the role of artistic expression in disaster preparedness and resilience-building, focusing on the interrelated processes of pagtatanghal (performance) and paghahanda (preparation). By analyzing how various art forms-such as visual arts, theater, and music-function as tools for disaster awareness, the study explores their capacity to translate complex scientific information into accessible and emotionally resonant narratives. Through qualitative review of literatures and case studies of community-based art initiatives, the research highlights how creative practices can foster deeper public engagement, stimulate dialogue, and inspire collective action in at-risk communities. It further examines how participatory art projects serve as platforms for collaboration, enabling diverse voices to contribute to preparedness strategies and cultivating a shared sense of responsibility. The findings suggest that art not only amplifies disaster risk communication but also strengthens social cohesion and cultural memory, essential components of long-term resilience.
