Bionote: John Phillip Bartolome Lapidez is a Coastal Engineer and the Marine and Coastal Solutions Department Team Lead of DHI Singapore. He is an expert in wave and hydrodynamic modeling and has worked previously as a Science Research Specialist at the Storm Surge Component of the UP NOAH Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of the Philippines and a master’s degree in civil engineering, major in coastal engineering, from the University of Tokyo. He has also conducted and published multiple studies on probabilistic analysis of storm surge in various parts of the Philippines.

Presentation Abstract:

How does coastal modeling contribute to costal sustainability? Resilience Live Episode 3 explores how vulnerable coastal communities can adapt to or mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. Mr. Phillip Lapidez presents the processes that were used on a project conducted that was conducted in Jakarta Bay, Indonesia as a concrete example of how hydrologic modeling can be used to formulate sustainable solutions.
