We are thrilled to announce an upcoming Participatory Geographic Information Systems (GIS) workshop hosted by YouthMappers, a global network of university students and educators passionate about open mapping. This hands-on event, scheduled to take place in FEU Alabang and UP Diliman, is set to be a collaborative and informative experience for YouthMappers members interested in the dynamic field of GIS.
Led by esteemed experts Dr. Brent McCusker, Co-Principal Investigator of YouthMappers, and Feye Andal, Regional Ambassador of YouthMappers, the workshop will explore various facets of Participatory GIS, including open mapping tools such as OpenStreetMap, Kobo Collect, QGIS, ethical considerations, and data visualization techniques. This unique opportunity is tailored for students eager to expand their knowledge and skills in GIS, providing a platform for networking and collaboration.
In close collaboration with the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI), the workshop will draw participants from local YouthMappers chapters, including UPRI YouthMappers, FEU Institute of Technology-Junior Philippine Computer Society (JPCS), and Adamson University University for the UP Diliman leg on January 22-24, 2024, while students from FEU Alabang-ACM Chapter are set to attend in the FEU Alabang leg on January 17-19, 2024.
