UPRI YouthMappers Receives Microgrant from Yayasan Peta Bencana and USAID for Children’s DRRM Project

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for UPRI YouthMappers. Through the generous support of Yayasan Peta Bencana with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), UPRI YouthMappers has been awarded a Microgrant to implement a project to enhance children’s disaster risk reduction and management skills. The microgrant is part of the program “USAID Cognicity OSS for Next Generation Community Engagement in DRM Program” .

The core objective of this project is to empower children with essential knowledge and skills related to disaster risk reduction and management. The team at UPRI YouthMappers recognizes children’s crucial role in community resilience and believes that by equipping them with the necessary skills, we can create a more resilient and disaster-prepared society.

The proposed project will revolve around developing educational modules specifically designed for children. These modules will cover various topics, including understanding basic concepts of disasters, fostering a culture of safety within communities, and responsible use of social media for disaster reporting. Through engaging and age-appropriate content, UPRI YouthMappers aims to make learning about disaster risk reduction both accessible and enjoyable for children.

Educated and empowered children are better equipped to navigate and respond to disasters and serve as advocates for DRRM within their families and communities. This project aligns with the broader vision of creating a generation of proactive and resilient leaders who can contribute to building safer and more sustainable communities.

UPRI YouthMappers extends heartfelt gratitude to Yayasan Peta Bencana and USAID for their support in making this project a reality. Their commitment to empowering youth-led initiatives demonstrates a shared dedication to building a safer and more resilient future.

As UPRI YouthMappers embarks on this exciting journey, there will be opportunities for individuals and organizations to get involved and support the project’s success. Stay tuned for updates on how you can contribute to this impactful endeavor.
