On November 7, 2024, the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) Institution Building (IB) division held a meeting with UPOU representatives Assistant Professor Milben Bragais and support staff Irish Micosa to discuss a potential Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP) training-workshop. The meeting also explored other possible points of collaboration between UPRI and UPOU. In order to have a formal introduction, the UPRI representatives began the meeting by giving an overview on the activities and services provided by the Institution Building division.
UPRI IB proposed a possible three-day training course which will enhance the capabilities of the university and guide the development of a PSCP. Asst. Prof. Bragais shared with the group that UPOU currently has existing DRR plans and also the ability to develop hazard maps. In order to align these resources, UPRI will be incorporating these items for the training workshop.
UPOU also inquired about the potential development of the university’s resilience hub which will focus on cybersecurity. Following up on a previous discussion with Dean Joane V. Serrano, clarifications on the establishment process of hubs were detailed.
The way forward included UPRI providing UPOU the finalized training design and logistical needs that will be necessary for the training preparations. UPOU also committed to preparing the necessary reservations and support for the program. With a target date within the 1st quarter of 2025, the meeting concluded with excitement for these capacity-building opportunities.
