Before the official start of the two-day training, a courtesy call was conducted on February 4, 2025, with UPOU Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, VCFA Dr. Jean A. Saludadez, Dean of FMDS Joane Serrano, HRDO Chief Michael Lagaya, and other UPOU representatives. IB Chief Jose Abraham Ongkiko shared with the group an overview of the Institution Building and its core mandate of capacitating the UP System for disaster resilience. In particular, Chief Ongkiko focused on the UP Resilience Program, wherein the division is tasked with assisting UP Constituent Universities in developing their respective Public Service Continuity Plans.

Looking forward to the potential of the training workshop, the UPOU representatives expressed their enthusiasm about how the program can assist them in the improvement of their plans. Discussions arose regarding the capacity-building needs of the university, which included Chancellor Bandalaria emphasizing the importance of a gap analysis in identifying their specific needs. UP OU expressed their eagerness for the upcoming training to apply the insights that will be gained to enhance their PSCP and DRRM practices, in particular the goal of strengthening their overall resilience efforts.
