In recognition of their outstanding support of and partnership with the Philippine Public Safety College-National Police College (PPSC-NPC), the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) and the Philippine Academic Society for Climate and Disaster Resilience (PASCDR) received institutional awards during NPC’s 31st Founding Anniversary on February 19, 2025, at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.
The institutional award honors institutional partners who have significantly contributed to NPC’s mission of sustaining quality public safety education and training for its stakeholders.
A notable example of the successful collaboration between UPRI, PASCDR, and NPC is the Big One Summit, held on July 31, 2024, at the NPC Heroes Hall in Silang, Cavite. With the theme “SHAKE UP: Optimizing Resilience for the BIG ONE,” the summit focused on enhancing awareness about the latest research on earthquakes, seismic activity, and risk assessment, particularly focusing on the Big One. The event was also featured on PTV’s morning news the following day, highlighting its impact and significance.
Accepting the awards on behalf of UPRI and PASCDR was Dr. Carlos Primero Gundran, Director for Institution Building at UPRI and Secretary of PASCDR.
This recognition underscores the vital role of academic institutions and organizations in strengthening resilience and public safety, reinforcing the ongoing partnership between UPRI, PASCDR, and NPC in advancing research, education, and training for a safer and more resilient Philippines.
