UPRI facilitates UP PRESS’ Rapid Assessment

Our infrastructure ages through time. The technology used for its construction can become obsolete as well. These structures are continuously exposed to various external factors which could cause its wear and tear. With the changing weather patterns where storms gets stronger, the initial designed strength of our infrastructures might not be able to withstand our existing typhoon events. This could turn our infrastructures from assets to liabilities and expose our constituents and stakeholders to various risks.

As one of the advocates of resiliency, UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) through the Institution Building Division in coordination with UP PRESS conducted a rapid assessment on April 29, 2025 at the UP PRESS Building. The said activity determined the infrastructural vulnerabilities of the building based on OSH Guidelines, Fire Code and Building Code. This activity is essential especially in the Emergency Preparedness Planning.

Rapid assessment generally aims to spread awareness on the infrastructural vulnerabilities present in the facility. This enhances the considerations in the emergency preparedness planning. This gives our decision makers the information on the potential risks our constituents are exposed to thus enabling them to make decisions to mitigate the existing situation.
