On February 12, 2026, the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) conducted an earthquake preparedness and response drill at the Philippine Association of University Women (PAUW) Child Development Center in UP Diliman. The activity aimed to strengthen the school community’s capacity for disaster response and enhance its preparedness protocols.

UPRI personnel were deployed as observers during the drill to assess the implementation of emergency procedures and provide recommendations for improvement. Particular attention was given to the school’s alarm system and coordination mechanisms to ensure that response procedures are clear, efficient, and suitable for young learners.

Despite their young age, with most participants around four years old, the children actively and enthusiastically participated in the exercise. Their engagement made the drill both effective and encouraging, highlighting the importance of introducing disaster preparedness education at an early age. The activity reinforced the value of continuous support and guidance in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within school communities.
