RESILIENT CAMPUS PLAN – UP CEBU

Campus Overview

The University of the Philippines-Cebu is a 12 ha campus situated along Gorordo Ave., Lahug,
Cebu City (Fig. 2.1). It was initially established as a satellite campus under the supervision of UP Visayas. In 2010, the campus was granted its autonomy to contribute to the development of the Central Visayas region (Logarta, 2013). UP Cebu achieved university status in 2016 – making UP Cebu the youngest constituent university of the UP system to date. The university houses four colleges specializing in sciences, communications, arts and design, management, and social sciences where their programs in information technology (IT) and environmental studies were awarded centers of excellence and development, respectively (Find University, 2009). Currently, UP Cebu is strengthening its graduate programs through the foundation of its satellite campus in Cebu City South Road Properties.

The campus is currently exposed to the following hazards: seismic hazards, floods, and
severe winds. On the other hand, the location of the UP campus eliminates its exposure to
landslide, storm surge, tsunami, and volcanic hazards; thus not included in the hazard assessment.
