Campus Overview

The University of the Philippine Baguio is the 7th autonomous unit of the University of the Philippines System. UP Baguio, also known as the “UP in the north”, is the leading institution in North Luzon that offers tertiary education, delivers curricular programs and contributes knowledge through research.

The history of UP Baguio started as College of Liberal Arts located in Vigan, Ilocos Sur in 1921 that was transferred to Baguio as College of Arts and Sciences in 1938. After World War II, UP College Baguio was reestablished through the efforts of alumni graduated in the earlier colleges. In 2002, the college was granted as a constituent university status through a unanimous endorsement of UP Board of Regents.

The university constitutes three colleges and two academic units namely: the College of Arts and Communication, College of Science, College of Social Sciences, Institute of Management and Program in Human Kinetics. As of 2001, The Commission on Higher Education recognized 3 National Centers of Excellence/Development in the field of Biology, Mathematics and Physics in UP Baguio. The university is also known for its record in ethnic and interdisciplinary researches with its principal area of interest in Cordillera Administrative region established under the primary unit of Cordillera Studies Center.

The campus is located at Governor Park Road, Baguio City, Benguet with a 9.2 hectares land area. The oldest infrastructure on campus is the Administration building named the Iskolar ng Bayan Building accommodating offices, classrooms, computer laboratories and faculties. Other major buildings on campus include the Isabelo delos Reyes Building housing the Institute of Management, Human Kinetics Building, College of Social Sciences also known as Cordillera Studies Center, College of Arts and Communication, Balay Salun-at housing Health Services and Guidance and Counseling Office,  and the Student Alumni Complex also known as Sarmiento Hall.
