The Global Compact Network Philippines (GCNP) held its Peer Learning Session on Environment on September 24, 2026, at MWSS, Quezon City, with Dr. DJ Darwin Bandoy, Director of the Research and Creative Work Division of the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI), serving as one of the session’s lecturers.

Dr. Bandoy delivered a lecture titled “Building Climate-Resilient Businesses: Understanding Environmental Risks and Opportunities,” discussing the environmental and climate-related risks facing Philippine businesses, including extreme weather events and resource constraints that can affect business operations and supply chains. He highlighted the importance of risk-informed decision-making and resilience planning in strengthening business continuity and long-term competitiveness. He also discussed practical approaches to managing climate-related physical and transition risks and opportunities for businesses to contribute to climate adaptation, mitigation, and environmental resilience.

The session also featured industry spotlights from Manila Water on water resilience and circularity, and Nickel Asia Corporation on climate action and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction. Dr. Bandoy joined representatives from both organizations in a panel discussion moderated by Ms. Jesi Blantucas of GCNP. The discussion explored how businesses can translate sustainability commitments into operational decisions, address implementation challenges, and advance environmental initiatives.

The Peer Learning Sessions were organized in preparation for the GCNP Sustainability Summit 2026, providing a platform for participating organizations to exchange practical insights and experiences on sustainability.
