UPRI-IB Conducts an Exploratory Meeting with the LGU of Pila, Laguna

 

 

On February 3, 2023, the UP Resilience Institute (UP RI) Institution Building team held a courtesy call with the MDRRMO Officer, Jerome Castillo, to discuss the possibility of a project with regard to the crafting of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Plans (LDRRMP, PSCP, and CP) of the municipality of Pila, Laguna,

Dir. Cuaresma discussed R.A. 10121, an act strengthening the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System and providing for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan. And R.A. 10174: The People’s Survival Fund (PSF) is an annual fund intended for local government units and accredited local or community organizations to implement climate change adaptation projects that will better equip vulnerable communities to deal with the impacts of climate change. Moreover, he highlighted the recent projects of UP RI such as the PlanManila2030, and SmartCity of Balanga, where they helped the cities craft their DRR plans. Mr. Jerome Castillo consequently stated their municipality’s current situation. He also discussed their concerns, timelines, and requirements for the project collaboration.

With this, UP RI will send a draft of the proposal that the Pila Laguna will review. Mr. Rudy Derez, as UPRI representative, will act as the coordinator if they have any clarifications or further concerns.
