The UP Resilience Institute partook in Geobrugg’s Advancing Geotechnical Slope Stabilization Techniques Conference at Panglao, Bohol on 17-19 April 2024. Geobrugg is a Swiss company involved in the design and fabrication of protection systems using high-tensile steel wire safety nets and meshes. Conducted under the patronage of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, the conference covered the latest research and scientific findings, challenges, and advancements in slope stability toward resilient infrastructure.
The conference was aimed at civil engineers, geologists, designers, authorities, and mining engineers worldwide. To represent UP RI, Ms. Jolly Joyce Sulapas from the NOAH Hazards Team shared an insight into the probabilistic risk assessment for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (CCA-DRR). Meanwhile, two on-site excursions offered valuable insights and practical know-how in the latest slope stabilization techniques employed on the island of Bohol. A tourist tour also enabled the participants to appreciate the natural wonders of the island.
