NSTP-NSRC Meeting SANAY AGAP IGLAP January 2024

 

On January 18, 2024 UP RI representatives Dr. Glecy Atienza (RCW Director), Dr. Likha Minimi (Knowledge Sharing Director), Jose Abraham Ongkiko (IB Chief Science Research Specialist), Jonathan David Maligalig (IB Junior Project Assistant), Franklin Joshua Gali (IB Junior Project Assistant) attended a meeting at the UP Diliman DILC building Conference room. Joining them were Ramon Bandong Jr. (NSTP Diliman Office), Aeda Tomie (NSTP Dilman Office), Gellie Flores (PSSO), Karl Villaluna (PSSO), Melody Villegas (Brgy. UP Campus), Sergio Linga (Brgy. UP Campus). The main topic discussed during the meeting was the implementation of the SANAY AGAP IGLAP program for NSTP-NSRC.

Ramon Bandong Jr. started the meeting by presenting the agenda of refining the SANAY AGAP IGLAP Training program, specifically refining the training design, scheduling and division of tasks. Following this, Dr. Glecy Atienza took the lead to discuss the specifics of the SANAY AGAP IGLAP, the training program is designed to develop the leadership among the NSRC core of leaders and barangay officials to  be ready and prepared from Hazards such as earthquakes, fires, and floods. The program will be conducted with active participation of participants and supplemented by lectures designed to make members of the UP community capable of dealing with disasters.

Dr. Atienza further elaborated that the program aims to prepare participants by guiding them to be building a healthy body and mind. Three particular principles were used in the development of this program: (1) popularization of science information, (2) using societal ideas for the mobilization of people, and (3) developing a sense of responsibility with your fellow citizens through teamwork.

UP Barangay representatives Ms. Melody Villegas and Mr. Sergio Linga assisted in the planning of the pilot areas for the practicum and simulation exercise. The venues decided were the areas of Village A, B, and C and Zone 2 in the Academic area. The tentative dates for the SANAY AGAP IGLAP program will be on March 22-24 or April 12-14, 2024 with participants consisting of both students and faculty and members of the local community.
