Preliminary Engagement meeting between UPRI and UPOU for a possible Resilience Hub

The University of the Philippines RI-Institutional Building, under the leadership of Director Genaro Cuaresma, convened a preliminary engagement meeting with Ms. Jerzyne Anne Corpuz, Junior Project Assistant, Mr. Jonathan Maligalig, and Dean Joane Serrano of the Faculty of Management Development Studies, as well as Ms. Janelle Ebron, a research assistant from UP Open University, at Los Baños, Laguna, on June 11, 2024.

During the meeting, Dean Joane Serrano outlined the objectives of implementing cyber security measures for threat response in UPOU, to establish a potential hub. This endeavor is expected to facilitate cooperation among universities and foster a collaborative approach to mitigating the impact of disasters.

Director Cuaresma recommends elaborating the concept of cyber security not only for UPOU but also for other constituent universities (CU’s), and he also suggests establishing a Master’s degree program focused on cyber security.

Subsequently, Professor Cuaresma proposed conducting a rapid assessment to evaluate the risk on June 13-14, 2024 at 9:00 am, and reviewing the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (DRRMP) with a subsequent training workshop for UPOU personnel

As agreed, UPRI will submit an OVPPAA Request Form and sample proposals from UPLB INREM and UP Mindanao DiWa. In parallel, UPOU will submit a proposal, accompanied by an endorsement letter from the Chancellor to the UPRI Executive Director.
