UPRI Institution Building Conducts a Rapid Assessment at UP Open University

 

As per the agreement reached during the preliminary engagement meeting between the UP Resilience Institute (UP RI)  and UP Open University (UPOU), the Institution Building division conducted a comprehensive rapid assessment of all UPOU buildings to identify and evaluate hazard risks on June 13-14, 2024 at the UP Open University campus in Los Baños, Laguna. The assessment was led by Director Genaro Cuaresma, accompanied by Jerzyne Anne Corpuz and Jonathan David Maligalig, and accompanied by Senior Engineering Assistant Engr. Maria Sandra Cacas and Senior Project Assistant Mr. Erwin Moong

 

The buildings inspected by the Institution Building team included the Teaching Learning Hub (TLH), the Administrative Building, the Instructional Material and Development and Printing Office, Oblation Hall, the Multipurpose Hall, the Centennial Center for Digital Learning, and the Academic Residence facilities, all of which are currently utilized by UP Open University.

The checklist encompassed a range of areas that required thorough inspection, including existing crisis plans and emergency preparedness measures, exterior and grounds, corridors, floors, stairwells, exits, bathrooms, custodial services, maintenance rooms, offices, classrooms, libraries, laboratories, playgrounds, athletic facilities, gymnasiums, and dormitories. During the inspection, the Institution Building team focused on the areas relevant to the buildings of UPOU.
