Campus Overview
UP – Bonifacio Global City (UP-BGC) opened in 2016 and is the 17th constituent unit of the University of the Philippines. One of the satellite campuses of UP Diliman, it houses the UP Professional Schools and currently offers an evening Juris Doctor program under the College of Law and MBA and DBA classes under the Cesar E. Virata School of Business (UP VSB, 2016). It will also host graduate courses of other UP Diliman units, including the College of Engineering, College of Architecture, School of Labor and Industrial Relations, School of Urban and Regional Planning, School of Statistics and the UP Open University. The degree programs offered at UP BGC are mainly professional master’s and continuing education programs, the kind that are typically needed or sought by people working in BGC and surrounding areas. At present, there are no plans to offer undergraduate programs at the campus.
The campus is on a 4,300 square meter lot in Taguig donated by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to UP. It is located close to C-5 road on BGC’s 32nd Street in the University Parkway district, an area where many other academic institutions are located. A nine-level building with a total floor area of 12,000 square meters was donated by SM Investments Corporation and named the Henry Sy Sr. Hall. The building has 29 classrooms, three computer laboratories, libraries, faculty lounges, and an auditorium. It will also house a moot court, a multipurpose hall, several discussion rooms, conference rooms and office spaces. The campus also comes with a multi-level basement parking area (UP System, 2016).
