Second Technical Working Group Meeting on Quezon City’s Earthquake Resiliency

 

 

The Quezon City’s Technical Working Group on Earthquake Resiliency organized a second meeting on 20 July, Thursday, at the Situation Room of the City’s DRRM Building.

The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) Secretariat initiated the meeting by reporting the status of earthquake-related projects, programs, and activities of every office in the city. Afterwards, a representative from the General Services Department discussed the draft Executive Order on Evacuation Protocols on Evacuation. This was followed by a report from the QCDRRMO Secretariat about their meeting with UP Ayala Land Technohub and recommendations that arose during their discussion.

Further, some points arising from the last second quarter full DRRM Council Meeting was briefly discussed by the Schools Division Office, City Health Department, and several hospitals in QC, namely the Novaliches District Hospital, Quezon City General Hospital, and Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital. These points were in regard to the evacuation protocols and guidelines in their respective offices.

The Technical Working Group members also shared their practice in the event of the occurrence of earthquakes in their respective offices.

The representatives from UP Resilience Institute (UP RI) who attended the meeting were Mr. Jose Abraham C. Ongkiko, Chief Science Research Specialist and Ms. Anjanette Mariano, Science Research Specialist II, both from the Institution Building Division.
