On May 23, 2024 the UPRI, represented by IB Chief Science Research Specialist Jose Abraham Ongkiko, Junior Project Assistant Jerzyn Anne Corpuz and Franklin Joshua Gali conducted a preliminary engagement meeting with the UP Diliman College of Social Work and Community Development (CSWCD).The CSWCD was represented by University Extension Specialist Edgie Uyanguren and Safety and Security Committee member Dominique Dizon. The topic of the meeting was the possible points of collaboration between UPRI and CSWCD for capacity building.

UPRI Institution Building Chief Science Research Specialist Jose Ongkiko discussed the previously conducted capacity building exercises with other UP Diliman Units. In specific, the possibility of a rapid assessment and a two-day Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) training workshops. CSWCD University Extension Specialist Edgie Uyanguren then expressed the college’s interest in this training due to their goal of developing an Incident Management Team, one of the topics of the EPP training provided.

The commitments required for both parties were the next point of discussion. CSWCD is committed to providing the logistical needs for the EPP training while UPRI will prepare the certificates for each training day. The sign-up forms will be prepared in collaboration to input the key information of participants. CSWCD reps will accompany the rapid assessment party on July 1, 2024. The target date of the Emergency Preparedness Plan workshop training is in the first week of September 2024 with finalizations to be discussed through email.
