UPRI Meets with UP Tacloban on Research, Resilience Hub, and Public Service Continuity Planning

On January 15, 2026, the UPRI team met with UP Tacloban to discuss Dr. Byungtae Yoo’s proposed research study, the Resilience Hub proposal, and the Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP). The meeting was attended by Dr. JP Yusiong, Asst. Prof. Arvin De Veyra, Asst.Prof. Maria Elisa Gerona Daga, Asst. Prof. Zoey Mallonga, and  University Extension Associate under the PIO Ms. Marvie Villones. The meeting began with the introduction of all participants, followed by a presentation by Dr. Yoo, which emphasized the proposed research study and identified areas for improvement to strengthen the proposal further. Dr. Yoo highlighted that the research study is planned for conceptualization in July 2026, in coordination with UP Tacloban, to further strengthen the proposal.

The meeting also included updates on the status of the UP Tacloban Hub “Center for Disaster Resilience and Participatory Governance (CDRPG)“proposal submission, during which both parties agreed that the proposal will be submitted by the end of February 2026. The participants further discussed the shared vision for 2026, including possible collaborative activities between UPRI and UP Tacloban. A potential training activity is proposed to be conducted in July 2026.

Asst Prof. Arvin De Veyra was designated as the focal person for PSCP in UP Tacloban, through whom all relevant details, documentation, and preparatory requirements for the proposed activities and training will be coordinated.
