In cooperation with the UP Resilience Institute, the nation’s premier and largest inter-high school geography quiz bee made a historic in-person comeback in UP Diliman last March 2-3, 2024. The 13th Philippine Geography Olympiad (PGO) was held at the University of the Philippines Integrated School Bulwagan on March 2, 2024 and UP Statistics (New Building) Auditorium on March 3, 2024. Three students, from the various Philippine Science High School campuses – Southern Mindanao Campus, CARAGA Region Campus, and Central Visayas Campus, and a student from Vinzons Pilot High School, won the competition. They will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming 2024 International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) in Dublin, Ireland this August.

Ms. Erika Del Rosario, Director for External Affairs of the UP Resilience Institute YouthMappers, was also the second speaker at the Teachers’ Talk and spoke on behalf of the organization at the said event.

The Teachers’ Talk and Career Talk are regularly held as part of the Philippine Geography Olympiad through insightful talks from esteemed speakers. The Teachers’ Talk aims to cultivate the interest of students and teachers in Geography and related fields, while the Career Talk aims to inspire students to pursue their interest in Geography and present the opportunities that the field of Geography offers.
