On May 25 to 26, 2026, the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) served as a resource speaker during the Regional Capacity Building Training on the Climate Resilience Toolkit for Health Centers held at MGT Hotel in Cabarroguis, Quirino.

The two-day training was organized by Americares Philippines, in partnership with the Department of Health. It brought together healthcare workers and representatives from different local government units and health offices across Region II to strengthen climate resilience in health facilities.
The Climate Resilience Toolkit for Health is a guide that helps health centers prepare for climate-related hazards such as typhoons, flooding, and extreme heat. It provides practical tools to support continuous health services during emergencies.
The Provincial Government of Quirino, led by Governor Dakila Carlo Cua, together with Congresswoman Midy Cua and Chairman Junie Cua, participated in the training through representatives from the Provincial Health Office and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Americares Philippines and the Province of Quirino. The agreement formally established their partnership in implementing climate-resilient health initiatives, making Quirino the first province in Region II to enter into this collaboration.
During the training, UPRI shared its knowledge and experience on disaster resilience and emergency preparedness, supporting the participants in strengthening the capacity of health facilities to prepare for and respond to climate-related risks.
The activity concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to building stronger, safer, and more climate-resilient communities through continued cooperation and improved preparedness.
