Ewha University Researcher visits UP RI and NOAH Center

Last March 5, 2024, Ms. Youngsun “Marie” Noh from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea visited the UP Resilience Institute and NOAH Center. The Research and Creative Work (RCW) Division led by Dr. Glecy C. Atienza cordially welcomed Ms. Noh and enthusiastically presented the division’s goals, completed and ongoing projects, and introduced the entire staff.

Ms. Noh was also toured around the building and introduced to the other divisions under the UP RI, starting from the NOAH Center and its components, the Knowledge-Sharing Division, the Education Division, and the Institution Building Division. The respective divisions shared their mandates and contributions in climate change mitigation and adaptation, disaster risk reduction management, and empowerment of local communities through multidisciplinary actions towards resilience.

Ms. Noh is a senior researcher at the Ewha Institute for Development and Human Security with a research interest in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP). She is also currently working on her Ph.D. dissertation at the same university. She visited the institute to discuss the details of an upcoming project in collaboration with the RCW and funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Along with Chief Science Research Specialist Dennis G. de la Torre, they also discussed possible collaborations and linkages between Korean and Philippine researchers and organizations in the future.
