The Philippine Preparedness Partnership, or PhilPrep, met with the new Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ariel F. Nepumoceno last 19 July 2023 to discuss his vision for the Office of Civil Defense and its potential role in PhilPrep. PhilPrep is a multi-sectoral platform for Disaster Preparedness composed of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) representing government, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) representing the private sector, the Center for Disaster Preparedness (CDP) representing civil society organizations, and finally the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute representing the academe.

During the meeting, CDA Nepomuceno outlined his plans for strengthening the capabilities of the OCD in order to more effectively carry out its mandate as well as for better coordination and collaboration with its multi-sectoral local and international partners. He expressed the OCD’s continuing support of the partnership and its upcoming events, including study visits from other Asian Preparedness Partnership countries and the Regional Steering Committee meeting in the coming months.

With continued commitment from the heads of partner organizations, PhilPrep multiplies the reach and effectiveness of each individual organization in delivering humanitarian services to its beneficiaries through synergized, relevant, and sustainable action.
