UPRI Attends Mobilizing Military Medicine for Territorial Readiness and Community Resilience

On May 13, 2025, representatives from the UP Resilience Institute were invited to serve as resource speakers and participants during the 73rd Annual Convention Scientific Meeting and Fellow Night, hosted by the Philippine Association of Military Surgeons Inc. The event, themed “Mobilizing Military Medicine for Territorial Readiness and Community Resilience,” was held at the Bayanihan Center Hall in Mandaluyong City.

The event commenced with the entrance of colors, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the invocation. This was followed by the welcome remarks and program overview delivered by COL Santiago Rodrigues Jr., a cordial message by Ms. Maria Melanie Lourdes D. Zita, and the introduction of the Guest of Honor and Speaker by BGEN Joanna D. Dalaguit. The opening program concluded with a message from GOHAS MGEN Ramon P. Flores.

The Scientific Program was divided into two sessions, during which invited speakers shared their knowledge and expertise on strategic medical readiness and advancements in combat casualty management. Among the speakers was Dr. Carlos Primero Gundran, who delivered a presentation titled “Surge and Survival: Hospital-Military Interoperability and Dynamic Triage in a Mass Casualty Incident.” The discussion highlighted the importance of coordinated hospital-military response systems and adaptive triage strategies in effectively managing mass casualty incidents. Following the presentation, the floor was opened for questions and discussions, allowing participants to further engage with the topic and exchange insights with the speaker. At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Carlos Primero Gundran was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition.
