The University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI) participated in the M7X Ready Program Orientation organized by the Department of Education Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DepEd DRRMS) held on April 30, 2026, at Tanghalang Rizal, Pasig City. As part of the event, UPRI set up an exhibit booth showcasing various technologies, applications, and educational tools related to earthquake preparedness, seismic monitoring, and disaster resilience.

The exhibit booth featured the UPRI Single-Axis Small-Scale Shake Table, which demonstrated the effects of earthquake ground motion on structures. Through the interactive setup, participants learned how earthquakes affect buildings and the importance of structural preparedness and resilience. UPRI also showcased the capabilities of the Raspberry Shake (RShake) devices deployed under the institute’s Citizen Science Seismic Network. Participants were introduced to how seismic data from deployed devices is streamed and monitored in real time, demonstrating how citizens can contribute to earthquake monitoring, awareness, and public engagement.

The UPRI booth also showcased the NOAH application and its features for hazard monitoring, mapping, and the dissemination of disaster risk information. Attendees explored how the platform supports preparedness and decision-making before, during, and after disaster events through accessible and science-based hazard information.

In addition, the exhibit also featured Sakunwari, a resilience boardgame developed by UPRI. Designed as a serious yet engaging learning tool, the game immerses players in complex disaster scenarios involving natural hazards, climate change impacts, and human-induced crises. The game is intended to support capacity-building efforts for local government units, educators, students, and other stakeholders interested in disaster preparedness and resilience education.

Through the exhibit booth, UPRI engaged with representatives from various stakeholders, including the education sector, local government units, and partner agencies. The activity served as an opportunity to promote science-based disaster preparedness initiatives and highlight the Institute’s ongoing efforts in resilience education, seismic monitoring, and public engagement.
Through our participation in the M7X Ready Program Orientation, UPRI reinforced the importance of accessible disaster risk information, community participation, and innovative learning tools and technologies that support disaster risk reduction and resilience-building efforts in schools and communities.
