UPRI holds publication workshop

The UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) conducted a publication workshop for its staff on August 10, 2023 at the UPRI Training Room. This is aimed at equipping the staff in publishing their research work in peer-reviewed journals, one of the mandates of UPRI as a research institution and a proactive hub of benchmark innovative information on climate change mitigation and adaptation. The publication workshop sought to increase the accessibility and visibility of the multidisciplinary studies being done by the UPRI staff through research publication.

Mr. Richard L. Ybañez, Chief Science Research Specialist of the Education Division, served as the resource person. He discussed the basic concepts and steps of publishing peer-reviewed journal articles, the different journal- and author-level metrics, the benefits and incentives for publishing, and some resources that may be used as guides for publishing.

Mr. Ybañez talked about the process of publication and the different considerations that come with it and must be taken into account.

Thirty (30) staff from the five UPRI divisions, namely Education, Institution Building, Research and Creative Work, Knowledge Sharing, and the NOAH Center, participated in the said activity.

The workshop also served as a venue to discuss the different challenges faced by some staff in publishing and shared insights on how to address them. This workshop also served as one of the many internal capacity development programs of the institute that will keep its researchers updated and capacitated in the delivery of its services to various stakeholders.
